The Doon School of Advanced Computing at the University recently organised an engaging guest lecture titled “Code to Company: The Real World of Software Development” for students of B.Tech & BCA. The session was delivered by Mr Nishant Arya, Senior Software Developer at EPAM Systems Inc., Gurugram. Bringing strong industry experience, he offered students a clear picture of how software development works beyond textbooks.

The lecture focused on helping students understand what actually happens inside modern tech companies. Mr Arya walked participants through practical software development workflows, including Agile and Scrum practices, version control using Git and GitHub, code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment processes. He also introduced tools commonly used in the industry, such as JIRA boards for managing tasks and sprints. These insights gave students a practical understanding of how teams collaborate and deliver software in fast-paced environments.

Preparing Students for the Future of Tech

A key part of the session explored how the role of developers is evolving with the rise of Artificial Intelligence. Students gained clarity on current job market expectations and the skills companies look for beyond academic knowledge. The discussion encouraged them to focus on problem-solving, adaptability, and continuous learning.

Strengthening Industry-Academia Connect

This initiative reflects the University’s continued effort to bring industry closer to the classroom. By facilitating direct interaction with professionals, the university ensures that students are better equipped to transition from academic environments to professional careers.
