Research published in one of the world's top 25% environmental journals "Springer Nature's Environmental Science and Pollution Research"

THE BREAKTHROUGH

Using a cutting-edge AI optimisation algorithm, Social Group Optimisation, DBS Global University faculty members developed a model that dramatically reduces the cost of producing bioethanol from agricultural waste: corn stover, sugarcane bagasse, and miscanthus, the very crops India grows at a massive scale.

As nations race toward cleaner energy, the single biggest barrier to biofuel adoption has always been cost. Faculty members at the University, Dr Ankit Agrawal, Dr Ranjana Sharma, and Dr Anita Kaul Gupta tackled this directly, building a comprehensive optimisation model covering every link in the biofuel supply chain: from field to facility, procurement to production.

Their paper was accepted by Environmental Science and Pollution Research, a Q1 Scopus-indexed journal published by Springer Nature, placing this work among the top tier of global environmental science research. This is the calibre of faculty members that DGU students learn from every day.

India has committed to 20% ethanol blending in petrol by 2025. Achieving that target at scale requires exactly what this research delivers: a smarter, leaner supply chain that makes domestic biofuel production economically competitive. Faculty members at DGU are not just teaching in the classroom, they are contributing to solutions that can support India's transition towards cleaner and more sustainable energy.

DBS Global University was founded on the conviction that a university must do more than educate students. It must generate knowledge that advances industries, addresses real-world challenges, and contributes to society. This publication is evidence of that conviction in action.

Our faculty members bring globally recognised research into the classroom, ensuring that students engage with ideas that are shaping the future of their fields. They do not simply study existing knowledge. They learn from the people helping create it.
